Trustees

Rev. Canon Gill Behenna
Trustee, translator and team co-ordinator.
Gill is Chaplain with the Deaf Community for the Diocese of Bristol; Deaf Ministry Adviser for the national Church; and a qualified BSL/English Interpreter.

Janice Silo
Trustee and translator
Janice is a retired Deaf teacher, with interests in Deaf theology and Deaf history.

Liz Heyburn
Trustee
Liz is a Human Resources Manager; a Communication Support Worker with the Deafblind; and part of the Deaf Ministry team at her church.

Susan Myatt
Trustee
Susan is the first Deaf Baptist minister in England and leads Open Hands Signing Church in Stafford. She is a national adviser to churches with the Baptist Union. Enjoys studying theology.
Key Advisers

Anna Smith
Focus Group Coordinator, translator and interpreter
Anna is a Qualified BSL/English Interpreter and a Qualified Teacher of the Deaf. She volunteers with national Deaf/BSL Christian charities and is a member of the Deaf churches across West Yorkshire.

Trudy Field
Translator and team co-ordinator
Trudy is a former registered interpreter, and is now an interpreter trainer.

Rev. Dr Ros Hunt
Treasurer
Ros is currently the treasurer of BSLBTP having previously been a trustee and a translation team member. She is priest in the Church of England and supports the chaplaincy amongst Deaf people in Ely diocese.

Peter McDonough
Translator and presenter, film editor, website editor and Company Secretary
Peter comes from a Deaf family. He was a Roman Catholic priest for over twenty-seven years and currently sits on the Catholic Deaf Association Council. Peter is a part-time Pastoral Worker (Community Officer) in Salford diocese (Caritas Diocese of Salford).

Dawn Lynch
Translator and secretary
Dawn is Deaf, born in Wolverhampton, and a mother of seven children and three grandchildren. With over 20 years of experience, she has taught British Sign Language (BSL) and Deaf Awareness. She is currently a part-time theology student, training to become a minister. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, baking, and spending time with her family.
I am also the secretary for the BSL Bible Translator Project.

Carolyn Denmark
Translator and presenter
Carolyn is from a large Deaf family that goes back six generations. She has been a TV presenter, translator and reporter in Deaf/BSL programmes. Three times she has been translator for the Queen’s Christmas message.

Clark Denmark
Translator and presenter
Clark comes from a Deaf family. During his teens he attended Rev Lochrie’s Glasgow Deaf Church. Then he became involved in Deaf Christian events again in the early 2000s. BSL is always a big part of his life.

Jay Thomas-Morton
Translator and presenter
Jay is director of a company offering Sign Language Services (West Midlands).

Rosemary Oram
Translator and presenter
Rosemary comes from a Deaf family and uses BSL all her life. She is a member of Liverpool Diocese Deaf Church and often does Bible readings in BSL with the members.

Dr Minna Moffatt-Feldman
Presenter
Dr. Minna Moffatt-Feldman has a doctorate in teaching and learning sign language underpinned by therapeutic relationships.
Minna is passionate in establishing an understanding of others by recognising their positionality and culture, establishing empathy, and positive regard.
Minna works with the understanding that clear use of language promotes a space for positive learning to occur.

Brent Allen
Translator and presenter
Brent is Deaf, originally from Birmingham; he was a Jeweller in his family’s business for many years. In 2005 he graduated at Mattersey Hall Training Centre (formerly Mattersey Hall Bible College) with a BA degree (Hons). Brent lived and worked in Romania as a Deaf missionary and served with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) for 6 years. Brent loves learning more about the Bible and teaching to others about it too.

Dr Jamie Davies
Jamie is Tutor in New Testament at Trinity College Bristol.

Rev. Dr Jonathan Tallon
Jonathan is Biblical Studies tutor at Northern Baptist College.

Dr Phil King
Phil works for SIL International and teaches Hebrew and linguistics at Moorlands College.

Rev Dr Robert Evans
Robbie is a biblical scholar, retired from university posts. He was a Project Trustee 2008-2025.

Sarah is a trained counsellor and Deaf Lay-Reader-in-Training

Rev. Shanon Ferguson
Former secretary to the trustees
Shanon is a doctoral student and Associate Chaplain at Roehampton University. She assists with worship at the Deaf Church in Margate, and has BSL Level 2.

Graham Kershaw
Reviewer
Graham used to be Deaf Project Officer with Bradford Council Adult Services. He didn’t understand Christian faith until he met a Deaf Chaplain who could explain Christianity in BSL. He is a member of a signing church near Halifax, and a proud grandfather.

Sarah Haynes
Company Secretary and translator
Sarah is an NRCPD Registered BSL/English Interpreter and a trainer and mentor of interpreters. As Company Secretary, she helps us to make sure that the Project meets its legal requirements as a Charitable Company.

Rev Bob Shrine
Reviewer
Bob retired as Minister in the Deaf Community in what is now the diocese of Leeds in 2013, and is a member of the Church of England’s Deaf Ministry Task Group. Bob worked on teams from the beginning of the Project to 2024.

John Wilson
Translator and presenter
John is a trustee of the BSL Broadcasting Trust and an External Examiner for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland's BA in Performance in BSL and English. He is a Deaf Arts practitioner, a freelance Museum and Galleries BSL Guide, and a consultant on Deaf access issues.

Jan Munns
Secretary to the Trustees
Jan previously worked as a communication support worker with Deaf children and Deaf/Blind adults.
